Day 85 - First Day of Oak Alley Plantation

I think the video spoke for itself today, and if you have any questions, just ask them in a comment, PM, Facebook post or email.

I am tired and will post the photos of this weekend tomorrow and watch for the special video on Monday with the review of the motel we are staying in the Economy Inn in Thibodaux, LA.

Day 84 - Got In YEAH!!!

So we got up this morning and I was going to show you all about the Economy Inn that we are staying at, but they were still cleaning rooms and we were hungry. So we went out to Waffle House.

After that we decided to go out to the Oak Alley Plantation and see what was going on. It ended up being an all day event as we helped our friend Tom setup his stuff and got with the coordinators about a space to do face painting.

WE GOT IN!!! YEAH!!!

It is a joyous day and we had no time to get back so I could do a video of the hotel. You will just have to take my word for it that it is the best little hotel I have ever stayed at. You can check it out at www.economyinnthibodaux.com

I am going to bed now and you can see what we are doing in tomorrows blog, so goodnight!

Day 83 - 3 Long Winded Answers!

I just had to to give my opinionated answers to 3 big questions that have come up on Facebook.

The first question was about "What brands of paints do you like the best and why? And what brands do you like the least and why?" There were so many answers that showed that different artists like different brands and how they work. One reason is Geography. Depending on where you live depends on how the paints hold up. Good example is TAG BodyArt is distributed in Australia and was probably developed for the extreme temperatures and dryness of the area and WolfeFX is distributed out of Florida where they are very hot & humid at times. Every paint is made for specific purposes and can be used in conjunction with each other to create outstanding beautiful works of art. It is up to you to decide which one works best for you.

The second question came from 2 different sources on 2 different topics. BRUSHES. Shannon Randolph has a problem with some DFX paints gunking up on her brushes. This stems back to the first question and since the DFX paints are distributed out of the Netherlands whee it is colder and does not get as hot as other areas, it tends to melt faster in heat. There is a way to alleviate this problem by using alot of water on a clean brush and rolling it across the paints gently. If it is still too think or gunky, try rolling it across a wet wipe, that should solve the problem.

The other part to this question was how to clean your brushes properly. Go out to a craft store and buy Pink Soap & Brush Shaper, they are both made by Mona Lisa Art Products and will help in cleaning and maintaining your brushes. Also, there are many different types of brushes and just like brands of paints, you need to learn and choose which brushes are right for you.

The third and final question I answered is about dealing with customers at the end of you show/festival and how to deal with their rudeness. Let me just say that you will always have rude obnoxious customers and will never be able to satisfy all of them. One way you can alleviate the problem of closing you line is to give out Numbers. depending on how long your line is and how much time you have left, make 5-10 tickets with numbers on them and give them out. This will let the new people in line know that they will not be able to get their faces painted since they do not have a number. For those who are left in line after all numbers are give out, give them a temporary tattoo or something they can take with them (NOT just a Business Card). Camille Eastin suggested making custom temp tattoos that are personalized by you, that way it makes it more special. Just be polite and remember that you can't please everyone.

Also, I will be making my own custom temp tattoos that I can use for this purpose and attaching to my business cards and handing out. I told Camille Eastin that I will send her a sample temp tattoo when I get them made, and if you would like one, I am going to be giving away 100 as a promotion to show what you can create. Just contact me once I post that I have them and I will send you one FREE of charge.

I am also going to be making a new hat, since everyone seems to like my new one, that matches my costume and has my logo on it instead of "No Comment..." So time to search the internet and find the best deals, TTYL!

Day 82 - Touring New Orleans French Quarter!

So if you haven't noticed by the video, It is a little shaky because the camera I have has a broken screen and I cannot see what I am doing. The other problem is I talk to much and need to let the images do the talking for me. Why do I need to tell you to watch what may or may not come next? You are watching the video and will will know if there is something next or not, by the time. I am a retard and need to focus more of my amateur videoing on interesting points instead of "UM" & "UH" & "Stuff like that".

I went to visit Craig Tracy, but then realized that he was out of town, in Thailand, until April 4th. But I did get to meet his brother, who does no body painting at all, he just runs the gallery so that Craig can do more of what he loves! I hope you like the virtual tour I gave you of his gallery in the video. If I missed something, I am sorry.

Some of the street performers were great while others were nothing more than cold reading Tarot scandals. I may see if I can setup and do some face painting out there next week!

The Cathedral is beautiful, but it is not for me! I love the artwork and the stained glass though!

Other than that, I had a great time and hope I captured it for you to see!

Tomorrow, I may make another couple of tutorials, so stay on the lookout for the announcements. Have fun painting and will talk to you later.

Day 81 - Back on track & 2 more tutorials!

Okay, I am back and good to go! Had enough rest and am ready to get started on NEW tutorials and better videos.

This past weekend wore me, my partner and her granddaughter out! It was beautiful weather and not that hot. It was comfortable, but as they were in a nice shady area with a tent next to an ice cream shop, I was in the middle of the sun and suffered for it. The only good thing that came out of it was the tons of smiles that walked away after visiting me.

Of course there were those that complained and griped when I had to close down, but for the most part, it was great and easy. On Saturday though, I had a mother complain to my partner that I turned their handicapped child away and was rude. I did turn people away, but that was only because I had nothing to eat all day and was suffering from heat exhaustion. Like I said, there is always going to be unhappy people. I never noticed the child and I turned away half a dozen people because my health was more important. NO DISCRIMINATION INVOLVED.

So in the end, I had a great weekend and took a break yesterday and that is why I had not done a video. I was just too tired and needed the rest.

Now I have done 2 tutorials for my Website today, Ironman and a Wolf face, as requested by bobcat2307 on YouTube. He will be receiving a 2 week subscription for supplying these ideas. You can also get a 1 week trial subscription per request that I make into a tutorial. So get those requests in. I still have other requests to get to and they will receive a free subscription too.

Also, if you have any questions, and I mean ANY, ask and I will put them in the next vlog.

Here is a sneak peek of the faces in the tutorial:
