Day 28 - Kapital Kidvention Day 1

Well the convention is great! I got here early this morning and was able to check-in to the hotel around 9AM and got early registration with the convention and started meeting all kinds of fascinating and interesting people. In fact most of the people I talk to on Facebook are here and i finally got to meet Marcela (Mama Clown) Murad and the Wolfe Bros, Nick & Brian.

I am sorry I did not get any footage of the classes, but they did not permit me. You will be able to buy the DVD set of the convention when it is over and I will make sure I supply a link to where you may get it.

There is so much going on and I just didn't know what I was doing, but I promise to get some interviews tomorrow and Sunday.

Tomorrows video will start with some footage of the Jam we will have tonight, so Don't worry, you won't miss a thing!

Here are some photos of the Face paintings done today: Starting with Nick & Brian Wolfe's Dragon Art, then a picture of my fish face (by Pam Trent of Way Wicked Art), Gen Keller's 2 girls with masks painted by Mama Clown and Terra Fender painted by Brady Neher!

Day 27 - AVATAR w/ Prosthetic Tutorial

This was a fun you to do with this prosthetic piece that they sent me. As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what it was and what I would be using it for.

Now unlike yesterday, I did only use liquid latex to apply it, because there was not a lot of movement going on up there. I did have to cut the piece down to make it fit my forehead, but that was not a problem. I did run into one problem though, DO NOT put liquid latex on your eyebrows. It hurts like hell when you remove the piece. Either cover your eyebrow or put the liquid latex around it but NOT on the hair. Man that hurt!

As I said before, the DiamondFX paint is great to use with these prosthetics and goes on smooth with no problems what so ever. You can find both DiamondFX and BodyFX websites in the "Links" button in the bar below.

So here is what I look like as an AVATAR with short hair:

Day 26 - Frog Face???

Using this piece of prosthetic, I was trying to create a Frog Face. To my surprise, it did not turn out the way I expected but it did have an appearance that was pretty funny looking and creepy.

I tried to apply it first with liquid latex, but because it was on a very movable area, I had to use spirit gum instead. With the spirit gum it held in place really good and was not to uncomfortable. It allowed the mouth to move freely and it was fun to wear and look at and play with. It did have about 7 holes just below the top lip for teeth, but I did not have any nor did I have any  corn nuts to make it look like I did.

I definitely recommend ordering from BodyFX to get your prosthetics. Woochie and some other companies that make prosthetics are just too stiff and unbearable. BodyFX makes the best for what you need, so order from them today.

Here is what the finished product looked like:

Day 25 - BodyFX Prosthetic Review (Extensive)

I received a package yesterday in my mail box. It actually fit, because it was in a plastic mail envelope and not a box. I noticed it was from New Zealand and I started to jump up and down in joy, not to mention keeping myself warm as it is still pretty cold outside. I was pretty surprised, after running back inside and warming up next to the fireplace, that I was sent several more prosthetics than I had expected. They asked me, Yolanda & Julian Bartram owners of BodyFX, what I would like to demonstrate and I told them the Cat face, since I am a tiger, and a monster prosthetic, because someone asked for a demonstration of a monster. Needless to say, I was not disappointed by what I got. Here is what they sent me:

Cat Nose & Mouth w/ Ears (See below for photos of how it was used)

Frog Mouth w/ holes for Teeth

Avatar Nose & Brow Piece

Pig Snout

Monster Bone Eye Mask

These are just a few of their Prosthetic, check out more in their Online Store

Now I already used the Pig Snout yesterday to see how well the piece works and the proper use of adhesion. I used Liquid Latex to adhere the piece to my nose and let it dry. I them wriggled my face in all sorts of contorted positions and found it held quite well. I then painted just the prosthetic and the surrounding skin to see how well the paint matched when dry. It matched excellently and went on without any problems, like painting a new born butt! I was happy at this point, but needed to try on last test. Washing it to use again. Well, the piece is clean and is drying out right now so I can test it again tomorrow. As long as you use liquid latex it is an easy cleanup, but if you use spirit gum, it will make the piece unusable as it destroys it when removed. These prosthetics are fragile, lightweight and breathable, but can be easily torn if not used correctly.

Here are photos of what it looks liked applied to the face and painted:

With all that being said, I have to say, that these are some of the best prosthetics you can buy on the bodyart market. These even surpass Woochie, which is stiff, annoying & sweaty if left on for to long. I definitely recommend BodyFX Prosthetics for all your 3D needs!

Day 24 - Quick Monster Mask

Thumbs Up if you liked the new Intro I made? You can go to Animoto.com and make one for yourself!

Here is a quick Monster mask demonstrating how to do Horns. As usual I used nothing but DiamondFX paints.

Tomorrows video is going to be even better, as I have received the package from New Zealand. I will be doing an extensive review of BodyFX Prosthetics and they sent me some great samples. Watch tomorrows video for something special at the end too.
