Day 120 - Getting Smart!

Well the best investment I made was to get a Smartphone to replace my crappy touch screen junk phone. I decided to do this so that I could use the Square device to accept Credit Cards at 2.75% per transaction. To learn more about the phone, a Sanyo Zio, and the Square device, just click the following links:

Day 119 - CATS Tutorial!

I decided to, since I was helping with the CATS play, do a little tutorial on one of the characters, Munkustrap! I know I forgot the whisker marks in the face, but if you look at the photo below, I added them.

Day 118 - CATS!

As I told you before, I was asked to do the make up for the local theater companies rendition of CATS but had to turn it down because I was doing a payed gig that weekend. So I became their artist consultant and am working on the makeup and teaching others how to apply it. I hope to make this a lasting business relationship.

Off to work, Happy Painting & I will talk to you tomorrow!

Mark Anthony is a great artist and want to learn more about Face & Body Painting and is my apprentice right now. We are coming up with some ideas for body art projects in our area. This is the beginning to a lasting relationship between like minded artists with lots of talent.

Here are some of her works:

I painted her last night and she loved every bit of it, she almost rubbed it off giving me a big hug and kiss on the cheek!

Day 116 - Going to FABAIC Finally!

So here, is what happened today that I did not tell you in the video.

I woke up to a phone call from a person working with the CATS play that is going on in Kingsport, TN. They wanted me to do the make up for the entire cast. Unfortunately the dates of the play fell on a weekend I have a paid gig on. So they asked if I could teach them how to paint and I gave a small class this afternoon. While the class was going on, the main makeup artist called and asked if she could come over and learn too. The makeup artist is just an artist who got sucked into doing the makeup and needed help. Her name is Mark Anthony and she owns Painted Note Studio in Kingsport, TN and she is a wonderful and great person. We are collaborating on a Body Art show at her studio on May 20th-23rd. Stay tuned for more details.

I have reached and surpassed my goal for FABAIC with a final donation of $2000 that was made today making a final total of $2590. I have already made my Hotel reservations and will be paying the registration for myself and my business partner as soon as the money is in the bank. I have also ordered new business cards through GotPrint.com who has some of the best GREEN products out there for very reasonable prices that beat out VistaPrint.

I would like to thank everyone who donated and made this possible for me! I love you all!

Until tomorrow, Happy Painting!

Day 115 - THANKS!

So far I have received 8 contributions. I want to personally thank everyone who has helped me out so far, especial Alex Beek, owner of DiamondFX, who donated $500. I would also like to thank Lorie McLelland for her donation and support by posting here website here for others to see http://www.wix.com/FantastikFaces/facepainting  A special thanks goes out to Christina Cots, Jenny Abarca, Pat Lawriter, Angie Mazzara, Leigh Carter & Kim Jones who also donated.

As I said in my last video, I will give you back 100% of your donations if I do not go, but If I do, I will bring back not only a more professional attitude and knowledge to share, but something tangible that you can hold and say "even though I wasn't there, I was in spirit". I don't know what you will get, but I promise it will not be a brochure for next year or a business card.

If I don't go and you do not want your donation back or would like me to use it on something I can use in a video, let me know in an email katmandewfba@gmx.com

I also wanted to inform you about the changes we are making to our Facebook Group. It is now called "Theme of the Week" and is starting out with "Black & White", it will start at midnight on Monday and go all week long. The winner of the mini contest will be chosen on Saturday night. This allows for you to create all new works of art for the themes and have plenty of time to enter them. PLEASE NO OLD PHOTOS.

We are also going to be challenging you with a "Theme of the Weekend Challenge" so that you can come up with new paintings at the parties, festivals & events you do then.A great way to challenge yourself to create something you never thought of at your gigs. Just make sure you take lots of photos at the gigs and upload your photos as soon as you can so people can comment vote. It will start on midnight Saturday and the winner will be picked on Monday night.

One last change is the "Daily News" has been changed to "Current Events" and we will probably be doing a 2 day contest starting on Midnight Thursday with a winner being picked on Saturday night. The only stipulation in this change is that the prize will not be the Profile Pic, but an actual prize. We don't know what the prize will be, but you will find out when you win.

We are just trying out new things to make this group better, so if you have any ideas, let me or Liliana Hopman know.

Here are a few examples of the theme for this week, Black & White. I am sure you can do a lot better and I am excited to see what you can do.
